In view of International Museum Day on 18th May 2026, the Museum will remain open till 8:00 PM with free entry to all visitors throughout the day.

Salar Jung Museum will close at 3:00 PM on 14.06.2026 for 75 Years & Birth Anniversary of Salar Jung III. Booking counters close at 2:15 PM.

Indian Culture - New Publications Alert

As part of the Second Phase of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, and in celebration of the International Day of Museums on 18th May, 2023, the Museum Division of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India organized a three-day International Museum Expo 2023 from the 18th-20th May, 2023.

To educate and sensitize the audiences to the concept of Museology, Conservation, and cultural Heritage, the ministry launched publications in public interest.

Pictorial Bibliography

The present ‘Pictorial Bibliography on Museums’ is brought out on the occasion of International Museum Expo-2023 to be organized by Ministry of Culture, Government of India on the occasion of International Museum Day 2023 and also part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.The ‘Pictorial Bibliography on Museums’ is basically a list of related documents scattered in various Museums, Indian Libraries and institutions.

The Central Secretariat Library, New Delhi has collected 547 book cover images and its bibliographical data from various institutions relating to Museum and its allied subjects for the Exhibition in IME-2023. The Central Reference Library, Kolkata, whose prime task is to publish Indian National Bibliography, Language Bibliographies and Special Bibliography made its editorial work along with introduction of each individual document. These documents include, among other formats, manuals, catalogues, bibliographies, documentation, guides, lists, textbooks, reference sources, brochures, handlists, encyclopaedias, coffee-table pieces, standard texts pertaining to Museums.
